We committed and - crystal clear - a way revealed,
My every turmoil was left behind
To the sunrise they led, one path for each,
In between a burning veil of fire

On our way old acquaintance was met,
Revived he seemed as he took us by our hands,
While he wandered through the fire he linked us through the veil,
So we could pace the trails together

As he tightened his grip
And whisp'ring planted faith in our minds
I listened rejoiced,
Saw no need to doubt nor to concern

Said the fire would cease,
Said our paths would unite,
As I dreamed all these dreams
He must have lost hold of your hand

As I opened my eyes again he lay in a pool of blood
And with his blood his life slid through the bleeding wound
I cried for help, screamed bitter tears,
I even held his hand after death had entered the breach
